The very second we walked into our room at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar in beautiful San Diego, Ayda turned to our Bellhop and said, "Welcome to our new home!" This resort is, well, grand. From the jaw dropping architecture and intricate details, to the staff that treats you like royalty, it really is the most lavish and luxurious place I've ever stepped foot on. But the thing I love most about it, even more than the pool-sized bathtub and the black marble countertops in every room, is that it truly felt like home. It sounds a little cheesy, but it is the best way I can describe it!

Although deceptively large, the resort has only three floors and sits on a hill so that the guest room floors are all below the main level. We were on the bottom floor and I loved how we could walk out the french doors of our room and be just steps away from the family pools, the restaurant, and the garden area that was perfect for the kids to play in. I (surprisingly) never got lost once and didn't even need to look at the signs to find my way around! The intimate setting was unlike any resort I've ever been to and, coupled with the loads of family-friendly activities, really contributed to its "homey" feeling that this resort is infamous for.

Upon check in, we were given a schedule of multiple kid-friendly activities that were happening during our stay. A wide variety of fun including magic shows, obstacle courses, swimming with mermaids, and- my personal favorite - a Friday night Dive-In Movie (a movie in the pool), a barbecue, s'mores and even a firework show to end the night!

Although we chose to stay for the fun, almost all of the activities are tailored so that parents can drop off their kids with qualified staff so they can participate while the parents get a spa treatment or relax kid-free by the pool!

The Spa at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar is actually one of Forbes 60 Five-Star spas IN THE WORLD, you guys. And let me tell you, I can absolutely see why. Aside from the variety of treatments they offer, their custom organic product line, and yoga classes, the Spa center also has a eucalyptus steam rooms, cedar-wood saunas, and mineral infused whirlpools and an adult-only pool. There are so many little nooks within the spa to kick your feet up with a good book, enjoy the calming music, and just relax.

I got a 60 minute refined salt scrub that was unlike any other treatment I've had before. My skin was so smooth and refreshed afterwards that I didn't even wear a coverup on my way back to the pool because I was feeling so good! #whoami They even sent me home with the lotion they used during my treatment as well as a scrub brush for me to keep up with my fresh new skin at home!

There are four pools on the grounds of the resort that are all absolutely amazing and even have underwater speakers that play music, which I think is such a cute and fun surprise. While they do have an adult-only pool, we spent most of our time a the main pool that offered poolside service, yummy food and drinks, and even had a cute little children's wading pool and white sand areas for them to play around in.

All in all, our the memories we made on our trip will last a lifetime! It was truly topped the list of our family vacations thus far. If you are considering taking a trip to San Diego anytime soon, I cannot recommend the Fairmont Grand Del Mar enough! You will be absolutely blown away by everything they have to offer. We can't wait for our next visit!
